Ray Massucco Concert Series #3:

RAY WYLIE HUBBARD and MARY GAUTHIER

Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Doors open: 6:30 PM, Showtime: 7:30 pm

Two of the great songwriters of our time come to Bellows Falls for one incredible night of music. Ray Wylie Hubbard is the secret handshake amongst those who know. Earthy, real, funky, unabashed... a renegade poet and a roadhouse saint. The Austin Music Hall of Famer was born in Soper, Oklahoma, went to high school with cosmic cowboy Michael Martin Murphey and spent his summers playing folk music in Red River, New Mexico. It has all added up to an iconoclastic, hell-bent for truths and textures career, writing about the way outlaws live. A Ray Wylie show is one-of-a-kind and not to be missed.

Mary Gauthier has been appearing in Bellows Falls since she burst on to the New England folk scene with “Drag Queens In Limousines.” The cover of her acclaimed follow-up, “Filth and Fire” was shot in the upstairs corridors of the fabled Andrews Inn. She played the “Meetinghouse Show” at Roots on the River almost every year of the festival’s 20-year run, and today is considered one of Nashville’s foremost songwriters and performers.
